The Häger Saddle Bag is one of them. Across its front flap, a white goose hangs suspended in an open sky above a quiet countryside horizon, trees dotting the earth below. The scene is not printed, not embroidered, but felted directly into the wool itself, layer by layer, by hand. The result is a surface alive with depth and texture, impossible to replicate by machine.

Up close, it rewards even closer attention.

Construction & Detail

The bag's rounded, sculptural silhouette is achieved through traditional wet felting, a process where wool fibres are compressed, shaped and fused using water, pressure and skilled hands over several days. The front flap closes with a discreet hidden magnetic button on the inside, keeping your belongings secure without interrupting the bag's clean exterior.

The accompanying strap is crafted from the same 100% wet-felted wool as the bag itself, ensuring a seamless, considered look from every angle. It is fully adjustable and attaches via sturdy, high-quality metal clasps, making it easy to remove should you prefer to carry the bag by hand. For those who prefer leather, a full-grain leather strap in a matching colour is available separately in our store.

A note on craft

Each bag takes several days to complete. The pictorial surface is built entirely within the felting process itself, no appliqué, no printing, just wool, water, pressure and skill. The scene develops naturally as the work progresses, which means no two bags will ever look quite the same.

Variations in tone, texture and motif detail are natural and expected, the unmistakable mark of something made entirely by hand.
